About Argo
Based on true events, Argo chronicles a secret 1979 CIA operation led by exfiltration specialist Tony Mendez, who concocts a daring and absurd plan to rescue six American diplomats who managed to escape during the takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran. Posing as a Hollywood producer scouting locations for a fake, low-budget science fiction film named Argo, Mendez travels into hostile territory to smuggle the trapped Americans safely out of Iran under the guise of a fictitious Canadian film crew.
