Anjali (Kareena Kapoor), a young woman living in Canada, is deeply in love with a struggling musician named Raja (Akshay Kumar). Her life takes a tragic turn when her elder sister, Aarti (Sushmita Sen), dies during childbirth, leaving behind twin daughters. To ensure the children are raised with care, Anjali is pressured by her family to sacrifice her love and marry her grieving brother-in-law, Aditya (Anil Kapoor). After relocating to New Delhi, she struggles in a loveless and distant marriage until Raja suddenly re-enters her life as a world-famous singer.
