Stensland is a hopeless, sensitive romantic who believes he has finally found true love with an older woman named Morgan, only to have his heart shattered when she reveals he was merely a "tool" used to get revenge on her neglectful husband, Grady. When the alpha-male Grady finds out about the affair, he decides the best way to get back at his wife is to move into Stensland’s messy apartment and adopt his slacker lifestyle. This leads to an unlikely and dysfunctional "buddy" dynamic as the two men wallow in self-pity, binge on debauchery, and attempt to navigate their shared heartbreak through a series of immature misadventures.
