Homebound

Inspired by a poignant true story first documented in The New York Times, Homebound follows the lives of two childhood friends, Shoaib (Ishaan Khatter) and Chandan (Vishal Jethwa), from a small North Indian village who dream of joining the police force to escape systemic poverty and social marginalization. While their bond is tested by unequal success and the crushing weight of caste and religious identity, the sudden onset of the COVID-19 pandemic forces them onto a perilous journey back home as migrant workers. Executive produced by Martin Scorsese, the film is a searing yet empathetic portrait of friendship and survival against the backdrop of a national crisis, serving as India's official entry for the 98th Academy Awards.
