Kadaisi Vivasayi tells the story of Maayandi, an ageing farmer in a village where most people have abandoned farming and sold their lands. As the only person left still cultivating his ancestral plot, he is asked to grow paddy for a ritual offering to the village deity when the villagers decide to conduct a festival. When Maayandi buries several dead peafowls found in his field (considered sacred animals), he is wrongfully accused of killing them, leading to a legal case. While he is imprisoned, the responsibility of his field passes on to others, revealing the disconnect between traditional agricultural knowledge and modern methods. The film weaves in faith, land rights, rural ethos, and eco‑concerns, portraying how one man’s steadfast dedication to nature and farming confronts bureaucracy, social change, and the erosion of ancestral values.
