About Mee Vasantrao
Mee Vasantrao is an acclaimed biographical musical drama that chronicles the extraordinary life and artistic journey of the maverick Hindustani classical vocalist Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande. Raised by a determined single mother, Vasantrao navigates personal hardships, bureaucratic service in the defence department, and adherence to rigid musical orthodoxies without ever confining himself to a single gharana. Portrayed by his real-life grandson Rahul Deshpande, the film captures his deep friendships with icons like P. L. Deshpande and Begum Akhtar, ultimately depicting his persistent struggle and eventual rise to legendary acclaim through Marathi Natya Sangeet.
