Neerja

Neerja is a powerful biographical thriller based on the true story of Neerja Bhanot, a 23-year-old flight purser who sacrificed her life to save passengers during the hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi in 1986. The film follows Neerja, played by Sonam Kapoor, as she uses her presence of mind and courage to alert the cockpit crew, hide passports, and protect passengers from armed terrorists. Despite the life-threatening situation, she prioritizes the safety of others over her own, ultimately being shot while shielding three children. The film is a tribute to her extraordinary bravery and selflessness, making her the youngest recipient of India’s highest peacetime award for gallantry, the Ashoka Chakra.
