After the mysterious death of their father, horse-wrangling siblings OJ and Emerald Haywood begin to notice an uncanny, predatory presence lurking within the clouds above their isolated California ranch. Desperate to save their family business and capture the "impossible shot" for fame and fortune, they enlist the help of a tech salesman and a veteran cinematographer to document the phenomenon. However, they soon discover that the object in the sky is not a spacecraft, but a highly territorial living organism that consumes anything that dares to look directly at it.
