Salaam Namaste

Set in Melbourne, Australia, Salaam Namaste follows Nick (Saif Ali Khan), a carefree chef, and Ambar (Preity Zinta), a radio jockey and medical student, as two young, modern Indian expatriates who decide to live together without marriage. They initially enjoy their independent-yet-co-habiting life, but soon their differing habits, career ambitions and cultural expectations catch up with them. When Ambar becomes unexpectedly pregnant, the couple must confront fears of commitment, responsibility and the meaning of love and partnership. Through humour, quarrels, misunderstandings and growth, the story explores how love can evolve—and whether living together without tying the knot is enough for a lasting relationship.
