Secondhand Lions

Set in rural Texas during the 1960s, Secondhand Lions follows Walter, a shy and introverted teenager who is abruptly left by his irresponsible mother to spend the summer with his two eccentric great-uncles, Hub and Garth. Initially wary of the reclusive duo—who are rumored to be former bank robbers or war heroes with a hidden fortune—Walter is slowly drawn into their world as Garth recounts their swashbuckling past involving the French Foreign Legion and desert princesses. Through these grand tales and the arrival of a tame, elderly circus lion, the boy discovers the importance of honor and courage, while the aging uncles find a renewed sense of purpose and a legacy to leave behind.
