Tár

Set in the elite, high-stakes realm of international classical music, the story centers on Lydia Tár, an illustrious conductor and the first female chief director of a major German orchestra who stands at the peak of her prestigious career. As she prepares for a high-profile live recording of Gustav Mahler's Fifth Symphony and the launch of a new memoir, past predatory conduct, systemic abuse of power, and personal indiscretions catch up with her following the suicide of a former protégé. Overwhelmed by mounting paranoia, intrusive noises, professional scrutiny, and institutional ostracization, her carefully curated empire systematically unravels, culminating in a steep fall from grace.
