About Victoria & Abdul
Based on the extraordinary true story of an unlikely friendship, Victoria & Abdul follows Abdul Karim, a young clerk from India who travels to England to participate in Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. To his surprise, he finds favor with the lonely and aging Empress, who is weary of the stifling rituals of her position and the fawning nature of her court. As Abdul becomes her "Munshi" (teacher), instructing her in Urdu and the Quran, the two forge a devoted alliance that transcends class, race, and religion. However, their bond sparks a power struggle within the royal household, as her inner circle and son, Bertie, plot to destroy the relationship and preserve the traditional order of the British Empire.
