20th Century Women

Set in 1979 Santa Barbara, the film follows Dorothea Fields, a determined single mother in her mid-50s who is struggling to raise her adolescent son, Jamie, during a time of immense cultural transition. Fearing she cannot connect with him alone, she enlists the help of two younger women: Abbie, a free-spirited punk artist living as a boarder in their home, and Julie, a savvy and provocative neighborhood teenager.
