Shirin is a young Iranian-American woman in Brooklyn struggling to balance the conflicting identities of being a "perfect" Persian daughter and a politically correct bisexual. Following a painful breakup with her girlfriend, Maxine, Shirin finds herself in a state of personal rebellion, navigating a series of awkward romantic escapades while hiding her true self from her traditional family. As she attempts to teach filmmaking to a group of rowdy five-year-olds and process the collapse of her relationship through frequent flashbacks, Shirin must ultimately decide how to reconcile her heritage with her personal reality.
