Set in 50 BC, the film follows Princess Sa See, the only daughter of the Chinese Empress, who flees to Gaul after a treacherous prince stages a coup d'état. Seeking the help of the legendary warriors Asterix and Obelix, she enlists the duo to journey across the world to liberate her mother and save her kingdom. Empowered by their famous magic potion, the inseparable friends embark on a grand adventure to the Middle Kingdom, unaware that Julius Caesar and his Roman army are also marching toward China with dreams of a new conquest.
