Bulbbul

Set in late 19th-century Bengal, Bulbbul follows a young child bride married into a wealthy aristocratic household, who finds an innocent companion in her husband's younger brother, Satya. Years later, after Satya returns from studying in London, he discovers Bulbbul transformed into the enigmatic and resolute matriarch of the ancestral manor, while the surrounding village is terrorized by a sequence of mysterious and gruesome murders attributed to an elusive, supernatural demoness (chudail). As Satya attempts to uncover the truth behind the local folklore, the narrative peels back layers of buried family trauma, systemic domestic abuse, and social oppression, revealing a poignant and supernatural tale of female retribution, agency, and vengeance.
