Emily Elizabeth, a middle-schooler struggling to fit in at her New York City school, meets a mysterious animal rescuer who gifts her a tiny, bright-red puppy. She soon discovers that the puppy, whom she names Clifford, grows in size based on the amount of love he receives—resulting in him becoming a giant, ten-foot-tall hound overnight. While her mother is away on business, Emily and her impulsive Uncle Casey must protect Clifford from a greedy biotechnology company that wants to capture him for genetic experimentation.
