On what appears to be a routine night in Los Angeles, cab driver Max (Jamie Foxx) picks up Vincent (Tom Cruise) who offers him a large sum of money to drive him around the city to multiple stops. Max soon realises that Vincent is a hit‑man with a contract to kill several witnesses before dawn. Forced to become Vincent’s reluctant accomplice, Max races through the night across L.A., trying to keep his wits and survive as the killings, the police pursuit, and his own moral reckoning converge.
