About Dev.D
Set against contemporary urban and rural India, Dev.D is a gritty, psychedelic reimagining of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic novel Devdas. After an acrimonious falling-out fueled by deep-seated misunderstandings, toxic pride, and social pressure, childhood sweethearts Dev and Paro separate, leading Paro to enter an arranged marriage. Shattered by heartbreak and self-contempt, Dev spirals down a self-destructive vortex of narcotics and alcohol in Delhi's red-light district, where he crosses paths with Chanda, a young woman entangled in a sex scandal who helps spark a journey toward unexpected redemption.
