Joji

Joji is a dark, contemporary retelling of William Shakespeare's Macbeth set against the backdrop of a sprawling rubber plantation in Kerala during the COVID-19 pandemic. The story follows Joji, an engineering dropout and the youngest of three brothers, who lives under the tyrannical rule of his wealthy and domineering father, Kuttappan. Constantly belittled and treated as a "loser" by his family, Joji’s simmering resentment and desperate desire for financial independence turn into a cold, calculated ambition when his father suffers a stroke. Seizing the opportunity to reshape his destiny, Joji descends into a spiral of greed and murder, proving that the most unassuming person can be the most dangerous when pushed to the edge.
