King Lear

Set in a highly militarized, alternative version of 21st-century London, this modern adaptation follows the aging King Lear as he decides to abdicate his throne and divide his kingdom among his three daughters based on their declarations of love. While his elder daughters, Goneril and Regan, flatter him to secure their shares, his youngest and favorite, Cordelia, refuses to engage in superficial praise and is subsequently banished. This prideful decision triggers a tragic spiral into madness and civil war, as the King is eventually betrayed by those he trusted and forced to confront the devastating consequences of his vanity amidst a crumbling, war-torn landscape.
