Ladies in Black

Set in Sydney, Australia, during the summer of 1959, the story follows Lisa, a shy schoolgirl who takes a seasonal job at the prestigious Goode's department store while awaiting her exam results. Working alongside a group of "ladies in black" in the high-fashion department, she is mentored by the sophisticated European immigrant Magda. Through her new friendships and exposure to a world of glamour and cultural shifts, Lisa undergoes a profound transformation, gaining the confidence to challenge her parents' traditional expectations and pursue her dreams of a university education during a time of significant societal change.
