LOOTERA

Set in 1953 against the backdrop of the Zamindari Abolition Act, Lootera follows Varun Shrivastav, a charming young archaeologist who visits the village of Manikpur to excavate temple grounds. He falls into a sweeping romance with Pakhi, the daughter of a local Bengali aristocrat, but Harbors a dark secret regarding his true identity and intentions. Inspired by O. Henry's short story The Last Leaf, the film is a poignant tale of betrayal and redemption as the two lovers' lives collide again years later in the snow-capped mountains of Dalhousie under tragic and life-altering circumstances.
