Poppy Wright and Alex Nilsen are polar opposites who formed an unlikely bond during a college carpool, leading to a decade-long tradition of taking a summer vacation together every year. Poppy is a spontaneous, globe-trotting travel writer living in New York, while Alex is a reserved, routine-oriented high school teacher rooted in their small Ohio hometown. After a falling out two years ago during a disastrous trip to Croatia, the two haven't spoken, but a dissatisfied Poppy reaches out to Alex for one final vacation to Palm Springs to mend their friendship. As they navigate the heat and shared memories, they are forced to confront the long-simmering romantic tension that everyone else has seen for years, questioning if their perfect friendship is actually a perfect match.
