After Boston detective Nick Walker is murdered by his corrupt partner, he is recruited into the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.), a supernatural police force tasked with capturing "deados"—malicious souls who have escaped judgment and hide on Earth in human form. Partnered with the cantankerous Old West lawman Roy Pulsifer, Nick must navigate his new existence using a bizarre physical avatar while tracking down a conspiracy that threatens to reverse the tunnel to the afterlife and unleash the dead upon the living.
