Sarah's Oil

Inspired by the incredible true story of Sarah Rector, the film follows a young African American girl born in early 1900s Oklahoma Indian Territory. After being allotted a seemingly barren patch of land, Sarah remains steadfast in her belief that oil lies beneath the surface. When her faith is proven right, she finds herself targeted by greedy oil sharks intent on seizing her fortune. With the help of her family and a group of determined Texas wildcatters, Sarah fights to maintain control of her land, eventually becoming one of the nation’s first female African American millionaires at just eleven years old.
