Damian Hale, an extremely wealthy industrialist dying of terminal cancer, undergoes a radical and secretive medical procedure known as "shedding," which transfers his consciousness into a healthy, younger artificial body. While initially enjoying his rejuvenated life in New Orleans, Damian begins to experience disturbing flashes of memories that are not his own.
