The First Purge

The film follows the origins of the annual Purge in a dystopian version of the United States. When the radical political organisation known as the New Founding Fathers of America initiates a twelve‑hour experiment in which all crime becomes legal on a struggling Staten Island neighbourhood—with the promise of financial reward for participants—the situation escalates into chaos as the violence of the oppressors collides with the rage of the marginalised, and the trial explodes beyond the borders of the district into full‑blown national upheaval.
