Shmuel, a Hasidic cantor in Upstate New York, is consumed by grief and a morbid obsession following the untimely death of his wife. Plagued by nightmares of her physical decay, he struggles to find religious solace and instead seeks a scientific understanding of how a body decomposes to ensure her soul finds peace. This lead him to form an unlikely, clandestine partnership with Albert, a bumbling community college biology professor. Together, the mismatched duo embarks on a darkly comedic and macabre journey involving "body farms" and DIY experiments to explore the literal underworld of decomposition.
