Set in 1613, the film follows the legendary playwright William Shakespeare during the final years of his life as he returns to his home in Stratford-upon-Avon after his beloved Globe Theatre burns to the ground. Struggling to reconnect with his long-neglected wife, Anne Hathaway, and his daughters, Shakespeare must face the buried grief of his son Hamnet's death and the complexities of his family's secrets.
