Inspired by the life of Helen Keller, the film revolves around Michelle McNally, a fiercely frustrated girl who lost her sight and hearing to an illness as an infant and lives in an isolated, dark, and silent world. Recognizing her desperate need for direction, her desperate family enlists the help of Debraj Sahai, an unconventional, eccentric, and tough-love teacher struggling with his own personal demons. Through unyielding patience and harsh determination, Debraj breaches Michelle's emotional barrier, guiding her toward language, formal education, and eventually a university degree. However, as Michelle transitions into adulthood, a profound reversal occurs when Debraj succumbs to Alzheimer's disease, prompting Michelle to become the emotional anchor and guiding light for the very mentor who rescued her from darkness.
