Daybreakers

Set in the year 2019, a mysterious plague has transformed the majority of the world's population into vampires, leaving the remaining humans as an endangered species farmed for their blood. As the global blood supply reaches a critical breaking point, Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke), a vampire hematologist who refuses to feed on humans, searches for a synthetic substitute to prevent his race from starving and devolving into feral monsters. His mission takes a drastic turn when he encounters a group of human survivors who reveal a possible medical cure for vampirism. Dalton must then decide whether to remain loyal to his own kind or risk everything to help the humans and restore the natural order of the world.
