Roger Greenberg, a neurotic and aimless New Yorker recently released from a psychiatric hospital, travels to Los Angeles to house-sit for his successful brother. Claiming to be "doing nothing," Roger spends his days writing letters of complaint and attempting to reconnect with former bandmates who have long since moved on from their shared past. Amidst his awkward social interactions and midlife existential dread, he forms an unlikely and hesitant romantic connection with Florence Marr, his brother’s soft-spoken personal assistant and aspiring singer. The film is a dry, character-driven exploration of vulnerability, the pain of unfulfilled potential, and the difficult process of forging genuine human connections in adulthood.
