Inspired by the true story of Lillian Alling, this experimental road movie follows a stranded Russian emigrant in New York City who, after her visa expires, decides to walk back to her native Russia. Carrying nothing but a small bag and a map, she embarks on a silent, grueling odyssey across the vast American landscape toward the Bering Strait. As she traverses through changing seasons and desolate terrains from the Midwest to the freezing temperatures of Alaska, the film captures a haunting, minimalist portrait of a woman's steady disappearance into the wilderness and the loneliness at the heart of modern America.
