During a transformative summer before heading to college, free-spirited 18-year-old Elliott takes mushrooms on her birthday and comes face-to-face with her wisecracking 39-year-old self. This older version of Elliott begins delivering cryptic warnings and life advice, particularly urging her younger self to stay away from a local boy named Chad. As Elliott navigates her final days in her scenic lakeside hometown, she is forced to rethink her perspectives on family, first love, and the fluid nature of identity, ultimately discovering that the most important moments are the ones happening right now.
