Parineeta

Set in 1962 Kolkata, Parineeta follows the lives of Lalita, an orphaned young woman of grace and dignity, and Shekhar, her affluent childhood friend and an aspiring musician. Although a deep, unspoken bond of love blossoms between them, their relationship begins to unravel due to the malicious schemes of Shekhar's class-conscious, conniving father, who seeks to exploit Lalita's family estate. The arrival of Girish, a warm and wealthy benefactor who steps in to assist Lalita's family, stokes Shekhar's insecurities and jealousy. As pride, misunderstandings, and societal pressures push the two apart, Shekhar is forced to confront the depth of his feelings and shatter social barriers before losing Lalita forever.
