Set in the 1980s against a backdrop of linguistic and regional tensions, Rebel follows the journey of Kathiresan, a simple student from Munnar who travels to Palakkad for higher education. While attempting to lead a quiet academic life and finding love with a fellow student, he is pulled into the volatile world of campus politics and systemic oppression faced by Tamil students in Kerala.
