Strange Darling

Strange Darling is a relentlessly tense and non-linear thriller divided into six distinct chapters that deconstruct a "one-night stand gone wrong." Set against the backdrop of the rural Oregon wilderness, the story initially appears to follow a terrified woman, known as "The Lady," as she is hunted by a volatile man called "The Demon." However, as the narrative expertly jumps back and forth through time, it subverts audience expectations by peeling back layers of deception and revealing a much more complex and blood-soaked reality. Shot entirely on 35mm film with a vivid, retro aesthetic, the film explores themes of gender roles and victimization while delivering a high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse where nothing is truly what it seems.
