Batwara 1947

Set in Lahore during the tumultuous 1947 Partition of India, the film follows Sikander Mirza and his family who migrate from Uttar Pradesh to a newly formed Pakistan, where they are allotted an abandoned haveli. There, they encounter an elderly Hindu woman named Mai who has refused to leave her home, prompting Sikander to protect her against rising communal hostility. As deep-seated hatred threatens their lives, the household's shared compassion and defiance in honoring Mai's final rites ultimately prove that humanity transcends religious division.
