The Secret Agent

Set in 1977 during the height of the Brazilian military dictatorship, former university professor and researcher Armando flees political persecution and arrives in Recife under the alias Marcelo to build a quiet life alongside his young son. Sheltered in an underground haven among fellow dissidents and granted a job at the local identity card office, he finds that escaping the regime is impossible as corrupt officials, surveillance, hitmen, and widespread political terror quickly close in on him.
