Set in a large joyful Indian joint‑family, the film follows Prem (Salman Khan) and Nisha (Madhuri Dixit) who meet at the wedding of their older siblings and gradually fall in love amidst festive rituals and family traditions. But when Nisha’s sister dies leaving behind a child, the family proposes that Nisha marry the widowed elder brother Rajesh. Out of duty and love for the family, Prem and Nisha decide to sacrifice their romance — only for the truth to emerge and hearts to reconcile in a celebration of love, loyalty and family bonds.
